Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions just keeps looking better and better.  The new screens show 3 of the 4 different versions of Spider-Man that will appear in the game.

Shattered Dimensions features 4 separate dimensions in which a unique and different Spider-Man exists in each.  In the gallery below you can clearly make out the classic wall crawler donning his traditional red and blue suit.  Also shown is Noir Spider-Man; a cunning and covert inspired hero who utilized shadow and stealth to take out his enemies in a 1930's influenced, black and white environment.  Lastly we have 2099 Spider-Man; a futuristic take on the classic hero.  2099 Spider-Man has a mechanized futuristic suit which allows him to move freely through the air.

Also featured are a few new takes on classic enemies.  Craven the Hunter is shown in an arena like setting battling the classic Spider-Man in the Amazing Universe.  Also revealed is 2099 Hobgoblin, who is unique to the game (not featured in the comics.)

According to Activision, a powerful artifact the Tablet of Order and Chaos has been shattered into 4 pieces, causing the space between dimensions to tear.  It's up to Spider-Man to collect the pieces of the tablet - each in a separate dimension - and restore the world back to normal.  Each of the 4 dimensions will feature unique gameplay and Spidey will have unique powers in each different dimension.

Judging from early footage of the game it appears that Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions could do for Spider-Man games what Arkham Asylum did for Batman.

No word yet on the fourth and final dimension, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Mutant X dimension.

I'll admit, these screens pique my interest - but the all important question is how will web slinging be handled. Everyone knows that is what will make or break the game.
